The first phase of the R200-million extension and upgrade of the Emnotweni Casino Complex is nearing completion and visitors can soon enjoy a cosmopolitan entertainment experience that is unmatched in the Lowveld.
Ig Olivier, the Director of Operations and Complex General Manager at Emnotweni, says: “The transformation of the complex over the past year has been phenomenal. Workers and equipment continue to swarm the site as we prepare for the unveiling in December.
“While the rest of South Africa winds down for the year, we are just getting started. This Festive Season promises to be one of the most memorable yet. Visitors can expect quality facilities and superlative entertainment experiences at Emnotweni, in beautiful, contemporary surroundings and delivered with world-class hospitality. We can’t wait to show-off our new look and facilities.”
According to him, a string of high caliber entertainers are lined-up to perform to mark the launch of the new Emnotweni Casino Complex, with Lira in December, Theuns Jordaan in January, comedian Joey Rasdien in February, and Barry Hilton in March – to name but a few.
The public unveiling of the new look and facilities completed in phase one is scheduled for 06 December 2013 when one of South Africa’s top songstresses, diva Lira, will perform live in concert. The revamp of the existing casino floor constitutes the second phase, which will be completed by April next year.
The new machines and tables will be fitted in the new Smoking Casino and Salon Prive soon, while the décor team has already commenced with working on the exquisite new interiors for these areas as well as the cashiers, centre court, mall walkway, and public toilets. The Arena multipurpose venue and bar services installations and wet works are also in progress.
One of the most ambitious parts of the upgrade was the demolition of the 720m² Emnotweni Arena to make way for three levels of parking and new, state-of-the-art multi-purpose venue. The new venue will be the hub for events, conferences, concerts, expos and launches with. Flanking the venue will be a new restaurant with an open terrace overlooking the Nelspruit Botanical Gardens and Emnotweni Sun Hotel.
